To inspire, recognize, and perpetuate responsible citizenship through education and acts of patriotism, in order to raise awareness and increase appreciation of the price paid for our fundamental freedoms.

WAYS UNIT 181 CONTRIBUTES TO THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY AMERICANISM PROGRAM

  • Participate in proper flag etiquette.  Did you know that the American Legion Post 181 has two flag disposal sites to retire your flags!! one is located downtown Lake Stevens in front of the Veterans Memorial, the other is located just outside of Bartel Drug store in Frontier Village.  The flags are collected and twice a year properly disposed of along with our Boy Scout Troop.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181 along with Post 181 actively observes patriotic holidays and participates in Color Guards you may have seen us at the Lake Stevens Vikings Football Games as well as the Aquafest Parade
  • Unit 181 folds and sends out over 2,500 pocket flags to our service members annually
  • We promote the American Legion Auxiliary Americanism Essay Contest
  • This year American Legion Baseball will becoming  back to Lake Stevens!! and we along with our post are very excited to support this amazing program – CHECK BACK FOR MORE INFORMATION
  • Unit 181 along with our Post 181 sponsors students wishing to participate in the American Legion Washington High School Oratorical Contest.  Last year we proudly sponsored the 2013 Champion
